Happy October (and hopefully Halloween). As things continue to be “on hold” your board is working hard to progress the NIIA and bring you even more value to your membership.
This month I would like to touch on a few things, we will start with branding and the Trusted Choice®. I am very excited to announce that we have a new and improved logo.
The board created this logo as a way to better align us with the big branding dollars of the BIG ‘I’. The BIG ‘I’ and Trusted Choice® are nationally recognized brands, choosing to incorporate their logo within ours helps tie us together and promote the shared benefits. Be on the lookout for our new branding as well as the new Trusted Choice® ads that will be running throughout the fall on streaming services such as HULU, YouTube and other social channels. In addition to the digital re-brand we are in the process of mailing out Trusted Choice® window stickers (clings) for you to use at your office. Be sure to check your mail. For Full Story
Meet the NIIA Legislative Chair
I was born into the insurance industry. My father started an agency in Incline Village in 1981. My title is Managing Partner as we are a legacy agency, and I am transitioning into the Principal role. I have been in the industry for 11 years and took my first job in the insurance industry working for a carrier in Omaha, Nebraska. I started as a Marketing Representative and then was promoted to a Territory Manager for the New England Region based out of Rhode Island. I was blessed and fortunate enough to be honored as the Sales Representative of the Year in West Virginia where I would travel often. For Full Story

Business professionals are asking me, “What can I do to accelerate my business right now?” If you are looking to find opportunities during this time of forced acceleration and change, I recommend these five suggestions:
Practice cooperative competition. This has always been a good idea, but some people resist the idea of actively working with your competition. Being able to honestly share ideas with people in your position and across your industry means understanding that the economic pie is unlimited. It can accelerate growth. For Full Story

Video Proves Strangers See the Best In Us…Even If We Don’t See It Ourselves
What would happen if you stood in front of strangers and let them judge your appearance and personality? These people stood in front of a mirror and talked candidly about their appearances and insecurities (without realizing they were being watched on the other side). The results are amazing and prove that we see ourselves very differently from how others see us. For Full Story
Big 'I' Extends Thanks on NFIP Reauthorization
The Big ‘I’ thanks the U.S. Senate for passing the government funding legislation, which includes an extension of the NFIP through September 30, 2021. The House of Representatives passed the same legislation last week, and we now urge President Trump to quickly sign it into law to avoid an expiration of the NFIP. A lapse in the NFIP would be devastating to the more than five million policyholders and countless others who depend on the program. This one-year extension continues to give Congress additional time to build consensus on common-sense reforms to the NFIP and to consider policies to help more property owners obtain flood insurance coverage through the NFIP and the private market. The Big ‘I’ looks forward to continuing to work with Congress to enact a much-needed multi-year reauthorization of a modernized NFIP.
